For more information, and to access a copy of the letter and permission form, please click here. Supplemental Educational Services Now Available for I.S. 125 Students As a result of the federal No Child Left Behind Act, our school has become eligible for the Supplemental Educational Services (SES) Program. Through this program, I.S. 125 students can be given free tutoring and academic assistance in the areas of math, reading, and English Language Arts. More than 70 state-approved SES organizations are contracted with the Department of Education to offer free programs after school and on weekends in schools, community centers, neighborhood locations and homes, as well as through the Internet. A parent guide, which explains how SES works and what parents should do to access these free services, was sent home last week with all students. This guide contains a directory of state-approved SES vendors who provide these services. All students were also given an SES enrollment form, and instructions on selecting a provider and completing the enrollment form. To help parents understand more about the SES program options, the application process, and to answer any questions you may have, we will be holding SES Parent Information Sessions on Thursday February 2, 2012 at 1PM and at 4 PM. Parents may attend either session. If anyone is unable to attend either of these sessions, or has any questions, please call the Parent Coordinator at 718 937-0320, extension 4143 or at 347 563-4217 email her at HStrafer@schools.nyc.gov. |
