Special I.S. 125 Student Performance at First Annual Woodside Youth Day Woodside on the Move, in partnership with the Fresh Air Fund, is sponsoring the First Annual Youth Festival on Sunday April 30th. Youth Day will take place in Windmuller Park in Woodside from 12 to 5 PM. It will feature free games, activities, music, refreshments, and give aways, and will provide a fun-filled afternoon for children of all ages. As a special feature of the Youth Festival, live performances of local school groups have been scheduled. Members of our school orchestra and chorus, under the direction of Mr. Soto and Mr. Grimes, have been invited to perform at the bandstand in the park from 1 to 2 PM, They will be presenting excerpts from the upcoming I.S. 125 production of Little Shop of Horrors. Join us on Sunday, April 30th, come out and show your support of our school, by enjoying a great performance by our students while having fun at our community's special Youth Festival . Windmuller Park is located on 52nd Street and 39th Drive in Woodside, behind PS 11. The Youth Festival will take place in the basketball court section of the park near the bandshell. For additional information, call the Parent Coordinator. Get Ready for the New York State Tests! This year, both the New York State English Language Assessment (ELA) and Math Exams for students in grades 3 through 8, will be administered in April 2012. The ELA examination dates are Tuesday April 17 through Thursday April 19th. The mathematics exam will be given the following week from Wednesday April 25th to Friday April 27th. Please note; the ELA exam will begin the day after school re-opensfrom the spring break. School will be closed for spring break from Friday April 6th to Friday April 13, and will reopen on Monday April 16th. The first day of the ELA test will be on Tuesday April 17th. To help both you and your children prepare for these tests, the New York State Education Department has developed a Parent Website. This public website will provide information about the state assessments, give sample math and ELA questions, offer resources for parents, and suggest activities that parents can do at home with their children to reinforce skills tested on the ELA and Math Tests.
